Quest for the Code by Heather Bradley follows two girls, Brenda and her best friend Arpita, as they try to decode a note they found by coincidence. These two best friends liked to play detectives, and having this strange note blow their way was like destiny. Brenda and Arpita impressively try to guess as they travel around town, all while learning about different cultures and languages along the way. With each new person they ask, they discover a new interesting fact about the person's background, culture, and language. Join these two as they have their adventure of a lifetime! Who knows? The answer may be a little closer to home than they first thought.
Quest for the Code was a very colorful, lively mystery that really brought out the curious child in me. The illustrations by Paul Schultz were as bright and expressive as the story told. Brenda and Arpita were smart girls, and they demonstrated great passion in their quest to unravel the mystery. Brenda and Arpita were respectful and polite, and, along the way, they learned more about other people's cultures and greetings, making their adventure an educational one. Their curiosity stoked my own, and I had my own guesses with every flip of the page. The ending surprised me; it wasn’t what I expected, and I couldn’t help laughing. I had so much fun guessing with them. I was so happy that they not only learned about the different cultures, greetings, and symbols of other languages, but that they learned a new, secret language for themselves as a result. Heather Bradley wrote an informative, heartwarming tale of friendship and adventure.
