Restored by Jeremiah Isaiah Cain tells the story of the author’s life, his experience with adoption, and the challenges he faced around mental health. For years, his adoptive family kept his adoption a secret, worried he might feel rejected or unloved if he knew the truth. They raised him in the Christian faith and made sure he learned about God. Jeremiah was a talented student, especially when it came to information technology, and that skill opened up some good career doors for him. When he learned he was adopted, an emptiness set in, and he went on a search to find his biological family, who turned out to be welcoming. The more Jeremiah dug into his records, the more he learned about his mental health and family medical history, and his mind began to spiral. This led to a diagnosis of ADHD, which later escalated into Bipolar II, Paranoid Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and Insomnia, but God remained faithful and helped Jeremiah find peace.
Restored isn’t just a memoir about adoption; it is really a story about faith, family, growing up, and figuring out how to live with mental illness. Jeremiah Isaiah Cain weaves in verses from the Bible and powerful, uplifting messages. He doesn’t hold back, laying out his hardest moments, the times he felt lost, and his journey to understand who he is and what his life means. His life has seen some incredible highs and some deep lows. Just when you think he had overcome his struggles, he faced even more challenging and unexpected tests. But through it all, he developed spiritually and learned to be grateful for the support he got from his bosses and colleagues, adopted and biological family, and his church leaders. There’s a lesson here for everyone. The book teaches you to show compassion to people dealing with mental health struggles and reminds you how crucial it is to never give up on them. It is also inspirational for anyone going through tough times and mental crises. You are never alone, and always remember to trust the process.
