Reve is a dream walker. He can slip into people's dreams and help them overcome their deepest fears. When Reve unwittingly enters the dream of the new girl in class, Kelly Leyton, he discovers deeply buried trauma from her past involving abuse and victim-blaming. Determined to save Kelly from the monster in her dreams, Reve reaches out to her, and the two develop a growing bond. However, Kelly must come to terms with her past and learn forgiveness, for it is the only way to repel the shade. Meanwhile, the shade has its past to deal with.
Sprinkled with romance, mystery, and a dash of the supernatural, Reve Blackwell: Nightmare Slayer is an absorbing tale bound to appeal to young adult paranormal mystery readers. Author Brett Galen tells an engrossing story that touches upon themes of forgiveness and faith, backed by a plot featuring a couple of shocking twists and turns that are sure to take readers by surprise. Moving at a brisk pace, the narrative never lets you put the book down before it reveals all its secrets. Reve is one of those protagonists readers will love to root for. He never hesitates to put himself in the line of fire for those he cares about, making him someone young adult readers can look up to. I adored his relationship with Kelly. In conclusion, this is a fantastic paranormal mystery for young adult readers!
