Author Biography

Mandi resides in Ohio, where she shares her workspace with two labradanes, two cats, and assorted squirrels. It’s a regular menagerie here in the Konesni household! In addition to writing, she runs a few businesses, a roleplaying website, and is a 3rd Degree High Priestess. She’s an avid reader and blogger, who adores music. Whenever there is a concert in town, you can bet she’s taking the night off and cheering on her favorite bands. She can easily be bribed with peanut butter M&Ms, gemstones, hot lead singers, and gargoyles.

Risque Romance Volume One by Mandi Konesni comprises two stories. Awakened features Mia, an introverted homebody who prefers to read a book in the comfort of her home. Mia has had erotic dreams that become more intense after she goes on a date with Erik. When she researches Erik, she discovers what may cause her fantasy man to invade her dreams. The second book is Enthralled featuring Dieri and Mirela’s romance. The Romani family cursed Dieri, who cannot die and may not feel love from anyone. Mirela is at a local RenFaire when she runs into Dieri. In the past, he had hunted down Romani's family members and killed them. However, their chance encounter begins a forbidden romance that could cost Dieri’s life.

Mandi Konesni has created two original stories involving enigmatic men and their unlikely partners. Mia’s personality resembles my own, and I would have felt just as nervous as she did. The erotic dreams were strange as she felt the sensations of what Erik did to her. I found Erik to be mysterious and the research results Mia came across were vague but added great tension to the story. The conclusion of Awakened was unpredictable. Enthralled’s setting in a RenFaire is vivid. Dieri was like a vampire except he could go out during the day and he didn’t just go around feeding off people. Mirela was naïve, and it appears she preferred to date men who may be dark and dangerous. She knew who Dieri was and still felt attracted to him. The romance was an addiction, and I found the personalities of both characters showed how resilient they were. I recommend Risque Romance Volume One to anyone who likes paranormal romance novellas with plenty of detail.

Risque Romance surprised me with how emotionally grounded it felt beneath the heat. Mia’s story in Awakened was especially relatable, that quiet dissatisfaction with life before everything shifts. Erik’s arrival felt intense but earned, and the emotional risk felt just as important as the physical attraction.

I enjoyed the contrast between the two stories in this volume. Enthralled had a darker, more reflective tone, and Dieri’s centuries of loneliness made his connection with Mirela feel meaningful rather than rushed. The question of redemption versus destiny gave the story real weight.

This book blends sensual romance with introspection in a way that felt sincere. The characters aren’t perfect, and that’s what made them compelling. Both stories explore what it means to want more from life and the fear that comes with finally reaching for it.

What stood out to me was the emotional vulnerability running through both novellas. These aren’t just steamy encounters; they’re about longing, choice, and the consequences of desire. The writing flows smoothly, and the themes linger after the final page.

Risque Romance delivers on passion, but it also offers something deeper. I appreciated how both stories asked what someone is willing to risk for love, freedom, or peace. The supernatural elements added intrigue without overpowering the emotional core.

This collection felt like an exploration of temptation and transformation. Mia and Dieri are very different characters, yet both are standing at emotional crossroads. I enjoyed the balance between romance, mystery, and character growth.
