Rocket Ship by C.OB. is a young adult fantasy that tells the story of two best friends, Gary and Lincoln, who plan to visit the skies on one of the nights where they lie outside, staring up at the stars. They both agree that it would be exciting to go on a trip into space. Both boys start planning for their trip and gathering the materials needed for building their ship. Unfortunately, these two boys, united by the same dream, soon realize that building a spaceship is easier said than done. They have a lot of difficulties gathering the materials and they don't seem to be getting the help they needed. When everyone discovers their plan, it becomes obvious that they are not the only ones who wish to go on a trip to outer space.
Rocket Ship is an interesting book. Lincoln and Gary are intelligent and adventurous seventh graders. I admired their level of creativity and wide imagination. The conversations between the youngsters were engaging and interesting. It felt like I had known them for a long time. I shared in their joys and struggles. Their transitioning into adolescence was a bit overwhelming for them. I loved the characterization and the plot. It's a great story filled with adventure and youthful drama. I recommend C.O.B's book to lovers of adventure and fantasy. The book is perfect for young readers and adults alike. I enjoyed reading it and I suggest you get a copy for yourself or as a gift for someone you love.
