Based on a true story, Sammie and Pumpkin is a children's picture book by Alanna Albano. On a chilly spring day, Janie and her mother drive to the local dog training school to adopt Sammie, an adorable golden retriever who instantly bonds with Janie. They bring Sammie home and shower her with treats and toys to play with. Janie takes Sammie for a walk in the nearby dog park. But to her surprise, Sammie hides under a bench and barks at any dog that comes her way. Janie is worried Sammie won't be able to make any new friends. One evening, Janie and her mother find a cute little kitten outside their house. Initially, Sammie barks at the kitten (Pumpkin), but after a few weeks, Sammie and Pumpkin become fast friends. Now, Sammie loves going to the dog park.
Immerse yourself in a wholesome tale of friendship with Sammie and Pumpkin. This children's story entertains as much as it demonstrates how to familiarize your pet with a new animal in the house. Inspired by her own pets, Alanna Albano tells an uplifting story that will bring joy to kids and parents alike. Anyone who has ever owned a pet will be able to relate to Janie and Sammie's bond. Sammie and Pumpkin's friendship warms your heart and will bring a smile to your face. JiaJia Hamner's beautiful illustrations really bring out the characters' personalities and perfectly complement Albano's storytelling. This is the kind of book that lifts your spirits and brightens your day. I highly recommend it for kids and even for adults who are young at heart.
