What better way to get into the holiday spirit early than reading Ronda Neilson's Santa's Patch, a colorful and descriptive children’s book? Santa is about to head out for the most significant and busiest night of his year, checking his list twice, but an unseen accidental rip to his red velvet pants leaves Mrs. Claus and the elves trying to help patch him up. They try all sorts of creative ways, from glue to packing tape to chewing gum to sugary candy, until a crafty spider helps spin a web of thread for Mrs. Claus to sew it up, and off Santa Claus goes with his magical spider to deliver gifts on time to children throughout the world.

Tatiana Hubich's illustrations perfectly complement the cute and funny story throughout Santa's Patch, with its jolly and wholesome depictions of Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their home. The pictures bring a nostalgic feel for Christmas celebrations; we are pulled back to our childhood Christmases and a cozy and warm feeling. Ronda Neilson’s humorous approach is written with many clever verses and rhymes that will have you chuckling out loud many times. This is a great way to teach young children about rhyming and makes it a fun, clever game that the whole family will love, especially for the holiday season. This is a holiday story recommended for all ages. Parents can read to their children while also being pulled into the spirit of Christmas. A feel-good read that leaves you with a smile on your face and heart.
