Siren’s Blood by Stephanie Mirro is a paranormal, urban fantasy romance that takes the reader into a world of intrigue, power play, death, and takeovers. The main characters are Dominic Sato and Bree (Gabriella) Benson. These two characters dance around each other, not knowing what to expect or what the outcome will be with a Red Dragon and a Water Siren that can kill with her voice. This fantasy world takes on a life of its own in the real world around it, including a pet salamander named Finley and a Red Dragon named Joubunaryo, or Jou for short.
Author Stephanie Mirro uses her main characters very skilfully to take the reader on a journey through the lives of Dominic and Bree, trying to avoid a deadly grandfather, a father who is obsessed with power, a gym owner who has an agenda of her own and who is fae, and a sister who just wants to have fun. The reader will find that it is very hard to put this book down and will devour it from cover to cover! The plot winds and twists and takes a very, very unusual turn at the end of the book, leaving the author open to writing a sequel. It is a very interesting and well-written story, and well worth a second read. Although it is not normally the type of book I would read, I found that I was rooting for the main characters and got the surprise of my life at the end! So I am looking forward to a sequel, and hoping for it, should there be one.
