The joy of being a first-time father is a unique experience. Nothing trumps the emotions that flood a man when he finally gets to hold that child he has waited for after so long, knowing that this is his child. The book is divided into three sections, one for each semester of pregnancy, and further into a chapter for each month of pregnancy. The author writes about each week of pregnancy, including the size of the baby at that stage, symptoms the mother is experiencing, and what the father can do to help her. There are also chapters about pre-and-post pregnancy matters. There are lists of additional online resources at the end of each of the three major sections, plus a QR code for a free copy of a checklist to download. The checklist explains what fathers need to do at each stage when the time comes to head to the hospital for the baby’s birth. The book concludes with an extensive list of references.

If it had been available then I would have loved to have read Stress-Free Pregnancy for Men when we were expecting our two children. Babyvarsity has packed an enormous amount of practical and valuable information into this book. The idea of dividing the book into what happens during each week of pregnancy was brilliant. Even apart from the enormous help that the book offers to expectant fathers, the information about what happens during each week of pregnancy is fascinating. The book contains everything a father needs to know, from pre-pregnancy considerations to possible post-partum depression. The author writes with humor, understanding, and excitement. I highly recommend Stress-Free Pregnancy for Men: The First-time Dad’s Guide to Supporting Your Partner not only for first-time fathers but also for parents who are expecting babies after their first one.
