Take A Right at the Mistletoe: A Very Vienna Christmas by Barbara Brutt is a holiday fiction novel. It’s Christmas time in the magical city of Vienna and Matilda and her two mothers are busy baking treats for their bakery and booth at the annual Christmas Market. In addition to the excitement of the holidays, Matilda, who aspires to be a chef, cannot wait to submit her application to a top culinary school. After Dylan, an intriguing American visiting Vienna, stops by her booth, there is an instant attraction. While it is fun showing Dylan around the city and preparing new marzipan recipes for the flirtatious tourist to try, Matilda’s top priority is perfecting the recipe that will hopefully gain her entrance into the school of her dreams. This enchanting holiday story is about love and the unexpected paths that life can take us on.
Take A Right at the Mistletoe: A Very Vienna Christmas was a delight to read. The gorgeous setting of Vienna during the holidays was a treat in and of itself. The cozy and warm descriptions of the city and holiday market made it easy for me to imagine how beautiful Vienna must be during this special time of year. I found all of the characters to be endearing. Matilda was spirited and driven, yet also humble and willing to learn. Dylan was a kind and caring gentleman. It was heartwarming to see how Matilda’s mothers, her best friend, and the close-knit vendors at the Christmas market all supported Matilda and wanted to see her succeed. Take A Right at the Mistletoe: A Very Vienna Christmas by Barbara Brutt is a highly recommended read that celebrates romance and the joy of the holidays while in the magnificent city of Vienna.
