Olivia Newport’s Valley of Choice series is continued with book three, Taken for English. This part of the saga begins with Annie’s baptism and official commitment to becoming Amish and joining the Amish community. Annie and the entire Beiler family hope that this will lead to the marriage between Rufus and Annie. Ruth has returned back home for an internship, but is thinking this may have been a mistake as she is now living among the English and has no desire to marry an Amish man. The paths these two women are on are not free from stress and struggles and they accurately reflect life for each of us, lives filled with choices, dilemmas, but also love and guidance from those around us.

I am a huge fan of Olivia Newport’s work as she has the ability to bring her characters to life, and not only are they enjoyable to read about, but they are so easy to relate to as well. Taken for English is an excellent addition to the Valley of Choice series, but I really encourage everyone to read the books in order as you might miss out on bits and pieces of the story and what has happened to get the characters to where they are at now. I also love how Annie and Ruth’s stories are written alongside and intertwined together in the book. Both are amazing women who are trying to decide what is best for their lives and in which community they really belong. I highly recommend this book, but really this entire series for anyone who is a fan of Amish fiction.
