Tell Me Everything by Maggie Casteen is a chilling psychological thriller about secrets, guilt, and the haunting power of the past. Julia Delauren appears to have a picture-perfect life with an enviable career, a loving husband, and a circle of caring friends. But beneath that veneer lies a dark truth she's spent years suppressing. When a shadow from her past emerges with a single, terrifying demand that she confess everything before she dies, Julia's carefully curated world begins to unravel. As paranoia sets in and her grip on reality loosens, Julia must confront not only the crime that has defined her life, but also the lengths to which someone will go to see justice served. The tension escalates with every chapter, and just when you think you know the whole story, Casteen peels back another layer.
Author Maggie Casteen has a real gift for suspense and knowing when to drop the other shoe, and that makes for a darkly addictive thriller that keeps you second-guessing every character's motive as you peer around every corner in fear. What made this such a genuinely frightening read for me was that the fears are rooted in authentic trauma, and the crossroads between running from those traumatic fears and acknowledging our accountability is something a lot of people can relate to. This builds around Julia in totally believable ways. The character development allows for introspective moments that feel relevant and never detract from the plot, offering a gripping and slow-burning narrative that crescendos to a shattering conclusion that’s well worth the wait. Overall, Tell Me Everything is a powerfully good psychological thriller that stays with you long after you set it down, and I would certainly recommend it.
