Author Biography

Inspired by the thrill of traveling on the open road over the years, I started writing Tequila Highway: Last Exit. Sure, this series is raw and sarcastic but so is the journey down the Tequila Highway. I decided to take a detour from the path for a bit and have also finished a mobster crime story, complete with a sixteen episode script for a TV series. I love to visit NHL hockey arenas and travel out West, always in search of my own the Tequila Highway.

Tequila Highway: Across the Pond by R J Matthews is an interesting story with a lot of humor. Jim and Selma have had a very bad experience with Hector, a Mexican mobster. Hector has many resources and knows how to play it dirty. Now, Selma and Jim are living in the Bahamas and not completely off the mob's radar. Their opportunity to leave the island comes when a banker offers help in exchange for their services in locating his brother. But locating Gene comes with a lot of surprising moments and narrow escapes that the duo never envisaged from the start. Follow these characters as they travel the Atlantic and pursue dangerous paths to locate Gene. But the Tequila Highway reserves surprises that are mind-blowing.

This is an interesting thriller with very compelling characters and action. The author does a great job in providing backstory that gives readers insights into what happened to the characters. Selma and Jim are well-developed and interesting characters and the character curve is exceptional. This is a novel for readers who love thrillers that are packed with action. It is suspenseful and pulsating. Readers are introduced to characters who are caught up in a villain's game and they have to watch their backs all the time. I took a liking to Jim and Selma the moment I met them and quickly learned to care about them. The writing is great, the pacing fast, and the plot intelligently done. The author also does an impeccable job in exploring the world of crime, writing subplots into the bigger picture that will intrigue readers. R J Matthews just became one of my favorite authors.
