The Advent of Elizabeth by Tim Jollymore is a mystery story. Twenty-four years ago, she was buried. Twenty-four years ago she was murdered, and the person who confessed is serving time for the crime. Both her family and his have moved to different towns and the case is closed. Justice has been served ... or has it? It’s the 100th anniversary of the California High School and everyone has come back to celebrate. But some members of that class from twenty-four years ago are being sent cryptic notes, and some are starting to question what they once thought of as the truth. Was the confession real, or was Doug Brandling trying to cover up for someone else? Does Elizabeth, the woman who accused him, know that she got it right? Can things ever be put right for Doug and for the murdered girl’s family, and is the real murderer still out there somewhere, waiting to strike again? This is one murder mystery you will want to see solved.
The Advent of Elizabeth by Tim Jollymore was an intriguing read. Unlike many murder mystery stories, this one has that little bit more to it. It’s got humor, it’s got satire, and it has all the elements you would expect to find in a good mystery. But rather than there being a clear-cut case, this is one of these stories where it could have been anyone because they all have something to confess, something to feel guilty about. The characters are a pretty heady mix of outlandish people, but all have that human touch to them, the touch that makes them feel real and makes you sit there and think back to old school friends that you can identify a character with. This is one story that you will never be bored with because there is just too much going on. The story is full of action and wends a twisty path to a surprising conclusion. This is one for all mystery lovers anywhere, and I guarantee two things – you won’t believe what you are reading and you won’t want to put it down.
