The Adventures of Big Head Bob and Long Neck Lisa: A Deep Dive into Friendship by David Bradley is an amusing and educational picture book for young children. One day, Long Neck Lisa and Big Head Bob each decide to spend their time scuba diving. On arrival, they are given the unfortunate news that they must pair with each other whilst on the trip. Lisa thinks Bob's head is big, and Bob thinks Lisa's neck is long, leaving them reluctant to team up. Realizing they have no choice as to who they partner with, Lisa and Bob gear up and dive into the ocean. The two of them enjoy seeing all the different sea creatures until something scary happens when Lisa's long neck gets caught in seaweed! Will Bob help Lisa, and if so, do you think it will change their views of each other?
The Adventures of Big Head Bob and Long Neck Lisa is a book that all children should read as it teaches the importance of accepting both yourself and others, no matter what your differences are. The book achieves this by focusing on two characters that are completely different. It also shows how easy it is to judge someone based on their appearance, and how this is wrong. David Bradley has created a book that both entertains and educates the reader, which makes it perfect for both children and parents. I loved every page and can't wait to see what he comes up with next!
