Author Biography

THE ADVENTURES OF SHERIFF WILLIKER was inspired by Kim's childhood memories growing up in a small lake community in NW Iowa. Her Grandpa and Grandma Griffee lived in Superior, Iowa, where Kim spent most of her childhood days--and the place where she draws from her imagination. Her grandpa was the Marshal--her inspiration for Sheriff Williker--whom Kim named after a saying her mom often said, 'Gee whiz willikers!'.

In addition to writing/illustrating her children's books, Kim is also a talented artist and muralist. She owns J.K. Hansen Studios, f/k/a Custom Murals & Designs. Her work has been showcased throughout Colorado, Florida, and Arizona.

In 2009, Kim worked on true crime book projects as an investigative researcher with bestselling authors Sherrie Lueder, John Hansen, Jill Hansen Smith, and Tyson Wrensch. Both books, HE KILLED OUR JANNY and UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT became bestsellers on Amazon, Kobo and iTunes.

In January 2014--combining her talents as an investigative researcher and artist--Kim set out to accomplish her dream of writing and illustrating a series of children's books THE ADVENTURES OF SHERIFF WILLIKER. Book No. 1 "The Case of the Missing Horseshoe" was released on 3/10/14 and became a bestseller on Amazon's Top 100 Books and #2 in Hot New Releases in Children's Books. Paperback and Kindle editions are available in both English and Spanish. Book No. 2 "The Case of the Riverdale Lake Monster," was released 9/17.

Kim currently resides in Gilbert, Arizona and is working on her third children's book "The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse."

Is there really a monster lurking in the waters of Riverdale Lake? Sheriff Williker to the rescue. In The Adventures of Sheriff Williker: The Case of the Riverdale Lake Monster by Kim Hansen, the reason there may not be a Riverdale Fall Festival next year is because of the rumor about the lake monster. Sheriff Williker wonders if this rumor is true? The townspeople are so fearful that they refuse to even go to the park. Sheriff Williker must do something about this rumor, otherwise it can ruin the Riverdale Fall Festival forever. To dispel the rumor of the lake monster, Sheriff Williker calls on a few friends and their families to go on a picnic. When Sheriff Williker and his wife arrive at Riverdale State Park, he is concerned because no one is there. Later, everyone that he had invited began to arrive. By chance, Sheriff Williker started to put the pieces together and solve the lake monster mystery.

This is a fun children’s picture book. Children will become engaged and want to help Sheriff Williker uncover the mystery behind the lake monster. Solving this mystery was important to Sheriff Williker for several reasons, the main one being the Riverdale Fall Festival, and it will become important to your child as well. It was fun to not only read this story, but watch Sheriff Williker navigate the solving of the mystery. This book displays a great message for the young reader that things are not always as they seem and you can't believe everything that you hear. If you're looking for a lovely children's book that will keep your child entertained, add this book to your library.
