Meet Yucky Dog who lived with her family, Abby, Nene, and Papa, in the country in The Adventures of Yucky Dog: Lost in the Woods by Bill Terry. Though they lived in the country, the dog could still get into a lot of trouble. One day while she was little and playing in the yard, Yucky Dog wandered off into the woods all by herself. The woods were dark and she did not know her way back home. She heard a sound and she turned around to see an owl in a tree. It was the first time Yucky Dog had seen an owl and when she turned back, she also saw a raccoon for the first time. Yucky Dog was very scared. Abby, Nene, and Papa were looking for her and they were worried. Though Yucky Dog could hear them calling, she was too scared to move. She waited for her family to come and get her and they did not. They were busy looking for her elsewhere and not in the woods. The family went down the road, asking everyone if they had seen Yucky Dog and no one had. Would she be reunited with her family?
The Adventures of Yucky Dog: Lost in the Woods is adorable and it is a wonderful moment when Yucky Dog is reunited with her family. The illustrations using crayons are delightful and colorful and add life to the story and the characters. Yucky Dog has been given a personality of her own by author Bill Terry, which makes her an interesting character to follow. All dog lovers and youngsters will enjoy reading this adventure and it is a good story for parents and tutors to read out loud to children during read-aloud and storytelling sessions.
