Alina Vezinet, a thirty-one-year-old art appraiser, is having trouble keeping up with her demanding work and her personal life. Apart from teaching art history classes as a university professor, she has to juggle working at an auction house with spending time with her family: her mother and sister. But that’s not all. Her mother and sister have taken over the family store, a legacy business passed down from her late father, selling gifts, home décor, and luxury goods, and it is failing. She might be the only one who can save it, but that means choosing between her two jobs and a failing business. It does not help that she is also stuck between two men, a situation that is equally complicating her life. With everything going on, Alina must make a tough choice for the sake of her future and the well-being of those around her. What choice is she about to make? Find out in The Art of Kintsugi by Riley X. Taylor.

If you are looking for a contemporary romance novel blended with drama, a hint of mystery, humor, and suspense, The Art of Kintsugi by Riley X. Taylor is an enthralling pick. Right from the start, Taylor wastes no time acquainting readers with the entertaining cast. I enjoyed the lively conversations and witty commentary. I often found myself laughing at the absurdity and irony in the scenes. It felt like I was watching a comedy soap opera. Interestingly, Gabriel has been head over heels for Alina for so long, yet he chooses not to tell her so he will not have to deal with rejection. Taylor uses the characters to poke fun at the millennial love culture. They avoid dealing with reality because they are scared of the consequences and refuse to acknowledge that their avoidance hurts them more. The trio, Alina, Roger, and Gabriel, is a classic example of ladies falling for “bad men” and “nice men” always finishing last. Taylor has a knack for capturing a woman's emotional and mental landscape when it comes to matters of love. It is indeed a complicated place.
