The Artisan Way is a coming of age, action-adventure novel by author Nandra Hoffman. Abandoned by her father and often neglected by her mother, teenager Lyah Artisan always had to fend for herself. After her best friend James leaves town, Lyah starts living on her own by duping unsuspecting strangers of their money. When a particular operation lands her on the wrong side of a drug dealer, Lyah is rescued by a young man named Keith Hayden. Meanwhile, Keith is on his way to Las Vegas to proclaim his undying love for his ex-girlfriend Tally, who is about to get married. As circumstances force them to band together, Lyah and Keith flee from their pursuers and discover companionship and a newfound meaning of love and friendship.

Nandra Hoffman's The Artisan Way perfectly encapsulates how a chance encounter between two lost souls can sometimes lead to self-discovery and make a person whole. Hoffman's narrative is held together by the chemistry shared between the two protagonists -- the spunky and free-spirited Lyah and the reserved and cautious Keith. Hoffman deftly maneuvers the plot to showcase how Lyah and Keith play off each other's strengths. Lyah's 'go with the flow' attitude to life is brilliantly contrasted by Keith's adherence to a strict moral code. My favorite aspect of the book is the banter between the two of them. The Artisan Way is one of the most enjoyable coming of age stories I've ever read. I would highly recommend it to fans of romance and adventure novels.
