The Case of the Amorous Assailant is a mystery novel by Terry Ambrose. Jade Cavendish moved in with her parents after dumping her boyfriend. She took over her father’s detective agency after his retirement and looks forward to her first case. Jade’s new client is the rich and famous Gina Rose, who married the man of her dreams, only to find that he married her just for her money. Gina does not like the direction the investigation is taking, and Jade decides to take a break from the case. In the meantime, the amorous assailant is targeting women and frustrating the police. The assailant binds their hands, gives the women a kiss and a rose, and disappears. Does Jade have a better chance of catching the Amorous Assailant?

The Case of the Amorous Assailant is thrilling and unpredictable. Terry Ambrose described the scenes and events in such a way that I felt as if I was there. I was intrigued, and the story was engaging. All the twists and turns kept me interested, and I kept guessing what would happen next. There was a surprise waiting around every corner. I was so enthralled by the story that I could not put it down. It was fast-paced and jam-packed with action. The characters were excellently developed and authentic. They are relatable and could be anyone I know. Jade discovered several secrets and lies that added to the suspense. At times, Zoe's humor broke the tension. It is well-written and plotted. The story is entertaining, and I enjoyed reading it.

Private Investigator Jade Cavendish has inherited her father’s agency, Beach Town Detective Agency, following his retirement and is looking for a paying client. Gina Rose, a wealthy heiress, hires Jade to prove her husband is defrauding her. At the same time, the Amorous Assailant has been targeting Carlsbad ladies, tying them up with red silk and leaving a kiss on their cheek and a red rose before disappearing. Finally, with an unexpected murder, Jade must uncover the sinister link between all cases, protect her client, and keep the family business running. In The Case of the Amorous Assailant, Terry Ambrose has created a cozy mystery of mayhem and murder that will get you neck-deep in secrets and greed.

Terry Ambrose’s multi-faceted plot connects every clue into a gripping mystery you won’t put down. The Case of the Amorous Assailant started slowly, with many stakeouts. I didn’t understand where the story was headed, and Zoe caused lots of mayhem that I didn’t find amusing. Yet, as the plot took more unexpected turns, secrets came to light, and the drama unfolded, I started to get into the book and looked forward to solving the mystery. I admired Jade’s relationship with her father as a mentor and how this story's female characters supported one another. With a cast of characters that move the plot forward, The Case of the Amorous Assailant is a delightful read. Jade Cavendish may be a rookie, but she has what it takes to survive this world of greed, mischief, and deception and save her client and her business.

The Case of the Amorous Assailant by Terry Ambrose is a treat that fans of mystery and crime fiction will enjoy. Jade Cavendish, a young and energetic criminal justice graduate, took over a detective agency on her dad’s retirement. Once her dad informed his contacts of his retirement, the agency’s business plummeted. Jade badly wanted to get at least one case to prove her worth and keep her dad’s agency afloat. Gina Rose - the young heiress to a real estate empire, a fashion icon, and a well-known philanthropist – unexpectedly hired Jade to find proof that her husband had defrauded her of half a million dollars. Before long, Jade found herself navigating a complex maze of conspiracies and investigating a murder.

The Case of the Amorous Assailant is a praiseworthy crime novel with a complex and fast-moving plot. Terry Ambrose’s concise, logical, easy-to-read style and impeccable editing made the book a joy to read. I loved every moment following Jade’s investigation into the case. I liked Jade and her humorous accounts of her findings, the unanswered questions, and her plans until she eventually unraveled the mystery. Ambrose crafted Jade and every other character thoroughly, contributing to the story with its well-measured share of action and suspense. I had a great time reading the book and I look forward to my reunion with Jade in the next crime mystery by this author.
