In The Colors of Friendship by K.R. Raye, we learn what can happen when three friends, a deranged boyfriend and murderous intentions collide. But who would want to harm Melody Wilkins, Lance Dunn and Imani Jordan -- college kids enjoying their freshman year? It all started when Melody met Kevin, a blue-eyed, charming young man with a body to die for and the sexual prowess that Melody just can't resist. But Imani, her dorm mate, knows he's a ticking time bomb with a penchant for violence. However, Imani can't see Trevor's, her homeboy from the Bronx, obsession for her. Lance, the 6'2" athlete has his pick of any woman on campus, especially Krystal, his latest fling. But his confident demeanor hides his insecurities originating with his mother, Oleta Dunn.

This well-written fictional story about love, deceit and murderous intent will make you think twice about the true meaning of friendship. The cover is beautiful. It has an African-American design that matches the book perfectly. I liked The Colors of Friendship because of the genuine dialogue and discussion of real issues in the black community. As part of a trilogy, K.R. Raye also wrote The Color of Love and True Colors. The Color of Friendship was a finalist in the 2013 Book of the Year Award, sponsored by Foreword Reviews. The Color of Friendship is highly recommended.
