Strika was born just outside of Washington D.C. and grew up in Maryland ,Florida, NewYork, and Maine. She attended public schools all over the place and ended up at the University of Maine where she earned degrees in Biology and Psychology. Presently, she works as a certified nursing assistant while attending nursing school. In her spare time Strika likes to do sedate things like skydiving, extreme camping, and running marathons. She presently loves all things Otter!
Gus was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Chevy Chase Maryland graduating from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1972. He obtained a B.A. in History at Amherst College in 1976 and a Medical Doctorate at The George Washington School of Health Sciences in 1980. He served in the United States Army Medical Corps, then in the private and public fields of healthcare before retiring to write and publish. Gus devotes his free time to drawing, woodworking, computer programming, photography, and playing his beat-up old tenor saxophone.
Navos grew up in Maryland, Florida, and New York before making Marlborough, Massachucetts her home. She works as a software engineer and has a master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from WPI. When not working, she tries to find time to pursue a number of hobbies, including reading, origami, eating chocolate, reading, drawing funny characters, and…reading.

The Cupcake Adventure by Strika Karmack, Navos Karmack, and Gus Karmack takes children on an exciting adventure with six cupcakes to a big old refrigerator. They cannot wait to reach there and find out what awaits them. Candy Cotton, Deep Dark Chocolate, Peter Pecan, Minty Chocolate Chip, Very Berry, and Vanilli Bean are thrilled with their new home and they have enough places to roam. Everything seems right inside the big fridge and the cupcakes make a lot of friends. Slowly the cupcakes begin to disappear as each day goes by and Minty Chocolate Chip, the proudest of them all, finds himself left all alone. How does he get saved? Who saves Minty Chocolate Chip? What is the lesson he learns after that? Read the book to find out.
The story is refreshing and original and I like the way in which the author used cupcakes to teach children about tolerance, acceptance, and that it is not how one dresses and looks that decides if they are good or not. Being written in a poetry format gives the story a good pace, movement, and rhythmic vibes. The illustrations are adorable and will captivate young readers with their color and charm. It is a beautiful book for bedtime story-telling because of the messages it conveys. Teachers and educators can use the story to help children in the class understand the meaning of acceptance and tolerance. Stories like this are perfect to help children understand concepts, values, morals, and messages in a delightful way that makes it easy for them to comprehend.
