The "Daughters" introduces us to the life of 3 freshman girls that are trying their best to figure their lives out; to explore just who they are, and what they want to become. Lizzie Summers' mother is a super-model, Carina Jurgensen is the daughter of a billionaire, and Hudson Jones' mother is a chart-topping singer.

This book deals mostly with Lizzie's surprise entry into the world of modeling. Next to her mother, Lizzie feels like she is ungainly and "unconventional"...who would want to ever photograph her? She surprises everyone, and mostly herself, when a fashion photographer plugs her as the "new face of beauty."

Lizzie is enthralled with all the attention, and glamor; but her mother seems to be upset with all the attention that Lizzie is getting. She wants Lizzie to decline all the photo shoots that she is being offered. Does her mother want to protect her, or just keep Lizzie from taking the 'lime light' away from herself?

Is Lizzie prepared for all the fame, time, and energy that modeling demands? How is all the new fame affecting her schoolwork, her friends, a possible boyfriend, and her family?

Growing up with fame and fortune all around them may separate them from most "normal" kids, but they face the same pains of growing up, and finding their way as any child in the 9th grade would be dealing with at that age. Most girls will identify with these 3 girls in a heartbeat; feel their pains, trying to establish their own identity, and their own paths in life.

The book was great, even though I am not a teenager...I could really identify with each of them. In fact, I can't wait till the next sequel comes out and I can learn more about the next friend. Joanna Philbin did a great job on this book....I rate it a 5 out 5!!
