The Future Room by Stavo Mustang Craft is a visionary exploration of imagination, identity, and the boundless possibilities of existence. This 30th Anniversary Edition brings together four interconnected stories: The Future Room, The Beauty Bomb, A World of Aliens, and Crystal Cities Rise from the Oceans. Each tale is a journey through fantastical realms, where characters grapple with profound questions about reality, self-discovery, and humanity. From the enigmatic Futurist who challenges perceptions of truth and existence to Galexia, the Space Princess who wields the transformative power of creativity, the book is a tapestry of philosophical musings and surreal adventures. The narratives are rich in symbolism, exploring themes of interconnectedness, the power of art, and the pursuit of higher consciousness.

Stavo Mustang Craft's writing is poetic and imaginative, blending abstract concepts with vivid imagery. The prose is intricate, often prompting readers to pause and reflect on the meanings embedded in the text. The pacing is fluid, and the transitions between scenes and ideas are seamless. The Future Room is a literary experience that challenges conventional storytelling, offering a journey as much about self-reflection as about adventure. Craft's writing resembles that of authors such as Jorge Luis Borges and Italo Calvino, often blurring the lines between the tangible and the abstract. The use of metaphysical themes provides readers with the intellectual engagement found in Borges’ labyrinthine tales. Similarly, Craft's imaginative and poetic prose, paired with surreal and fantastical elements, is reminiscent of Calvino's work. Readers who appreciate literary artistry and philosophical depth will find The Future Room a compelling and thought-provoking read.

The Future Room by Stavo Mustang Craft is a collection of four fairytales for adults with themes of self-discovery and the magic of the inner world. In the first story, The Future Room, the narrator meets his future self and learns that the walls he can now walk through are self-imposed boundaries, and that he had been limiting his own potential. In The Beauty Bomb, an intergalactic singer discovers her hidden powers of influence over others' minds. A World of Aliens features an alien intervention in Earth's dying culture: the fear of it becoming a planet of machines or cyborgs. Finally, in Crystal Cities Rise from the Oceans, an amnesiac learns that he can bring anything into being by drawing it. He makes his way home on a boat that he drew, and learns who he is from the rivers, mountains, stars, and sun.

What a wonderful experience it was reading Stavo Mustang Craft's The Future Room. The first story, which the book takes its title from, was especially magical and enchanting at the same time as being absolutely hilarious. The character from the future, called The Futurist, teaches the narrator from the present day about the power of human thought and of infinite possibility. He speaks in riddles and playfully yet often sarcastically taunts the narrator, pointing his walking stick up to the heavens when trying to bring an important point across. He reminded me of Alice in Wonderland's character, the Mad Hatter. The book uses humor and allegory to bring home lessons of infinite possibilities in life as well as personal power.
