Immerse yourself in a captivating tale of friendship with Tuula Pere's The Gnome's Garden. Norman the Gnome has a garden hidden deep in the forest. Norman is a gifted gardener, and all kinds of fruits and vegetables can be found in his garden. His friend, Milly the Mole, helps him pick the fruits and vegetables when they are ready. Norman and Milly both enjoy working together in the garden. In the fall, Norman throws a party for all his friends in the forest for the harvest and sends his friends home with fruits and vegetables from his garden. After a snowy winter, spring comes, and Milly is ready to plant new seeds. However, Norman is smitten with a beautiful butterfly who wants flowers in his garden. Meanwhile, a storm is coming.

Friends always stick together amid adversity and help each other out. Author Tuula Pere has woven a gentle lesson into this heartwarming tale of friendship and loyalty. The Garden Gnome engages as well as inspires readers. The two main characters, Norman and Milly, and their friendship is at the center of the narrative. Norman is a kind-hearted gnome, but sometimes he tends to overlook Milly's work in keeping the garden productive and takes her efforts for granted. But he soon realizes Milly's loyalty and her resolve to keep their garden safe from harm. The butterfly signifies the difference between true friends and seasonal friends. Outi Rautkallio's illustrations are fantastic and will bring joy to young readers and keep them immersed in the story. I think both children and adults will find this book rewarding.
