Brian choked and vomited up a sphere that emitted light. It communicated with him telepathically. He did not question its commands; it seemed natural to obey. When Jacob found the orb he was transported to an alternate universe. The citizens proclaimed him royalty. “Long live technology! Long live Jacob T. Badgley!” Igor Mordulo attempted to control Jacob with rules: bed time, duties, and speeches. Planet Zieaarade was dying. Badgley’s mission – he had no choice but to accept – was to save the planet from Gravitational Loss. Jacob was shown the enemy of the people, a traitor; he was shocked to see a human female in the cage. She was barely alive. The crowds worshiped him but Mordulo controlled, intimidated, and threatened him. Mordulo had no idea what he was up against when he challenged a human. “Humans are fighters by nature.” “We fight for what we believe in. We fought for equality and will forever continue to do so . . . We have seen time and time again that one person can make a change, even if that person isn’t in a position of power to begin with. Maybe, in the end, the most valuable knowledge of all understands our own capabilities as human beings.”
I must apologize to this author for using such a long quote from his book; however, I found the words very profound. "The Infinite Knowledge of J. T. Badgley" was written by Tiana Warner. Warner offers readers a novel that demonstrates the corruption of a government. Instead of offering the citizens the truth, they were fed platitudes and lies. This book was written for young adults but the message will appeal to adults too. The character Jacob was rather immature at the beginning of the book. I found it interesting to watch how the author allowed him to mature. Warner writes with a descriptive flair allowing readers to see in their minds' eye the scenes as they play out on the pages.
