The Keya Quests by Glenn Skinner is the story of Keya, the most powerful fairy that ever existed. She was the Queen of a specific tribe of fairies and the guardian of a portal that linked her world with our own. The fairies had friends on our side of the portal and utilized our Doctors when they were in extreme need. Keya was pregnant and the pregnancy was not going well; she sought the wisdom of a Doctor on our side and he found that she was suffering from several problems that forced Keya and her inner circle, who were also her protectors, to come to our side. Much of the book takes place inside the small hospital where the fairy Queen and her people stayed during this time. Every good fairy has an enemy, and Keya is no different. A Sorcerer has found a way to kill the fairies with old magic so he can rule both worlds.
The characters in The Keya Quests are well developed. The author gives the fairies a care free attitude and a tremendous amount of power. I especially enjoyed their playfulness. The plot and concept are both compelling and cute, and the details were vivid, especially in their description of the fairies. It is a great book for light reading with a pleasant plot that makes it easy for almost any age to read and enjoy.
