Michelle's dad, who had loved reading, had died in the military. She wanted to share his books and her friend Cindy had an idea. She thought of having a lemonade stand to sell his books and help Michelle's family. Isabella also wanted to help. Carlos said they could take the money they got from the stand and the books and give it to Michelle's mom. Carlos went to Jimmy's house and picked up the lemons, Cindy went to get a table and chairs, and Michelle helped to make the signs. The entire gang got together and, along with the lemonade stand, had a sale of Michelle's dad's books. The entire neighborhood came and supported them and gave the money they made to Michelle and her mom.
The Lemonade Stand by Cynthia Hudson and James Johnston is a delightful story that conveys the beautiful concept of friendship, teamwork, and helping each other. Children will also learn how to make fresh homemade lemonade from Jimmy's mom. The illustrations are as colorful and adorable as the story and the characters and make the concept and the message tangible to readers. The story has a lot of life lessons that make it good for parents and tutors to read out loud to children to make them understand the importance of kindness and charity from a very young age. It is also interesting how the children coordinate with each other and get everything ready before the sale of books along with the lemonade stand.
