When two brothers stumble upon a counterfeiter’s hideout, a camping trip turns deadly in the exciting adventure series, The Mephisto Swamp Mystery (A Case Twins Adventure) by Dorian Rockwood. After their graduation, Dan and Paul Case set out on a canoe trip down the Makatawa River with plans to explore a notorious swamp. While stopping for a rest on the shore near an abandoned cypress mill, Dan discovers a man and a boy printing counterfeit money. When the thugs find Dan spying on them, he and Paul are captured, and their canoe is sunk. Meanwhile, the crooks learn the Treasury Department is on their tail and must relocate their operation. On top of having a counterfeiting ring out for their blood, alligators, snakes, and quicksand are lurking in the background. Things aren’t looking good for Dan and Paul. Can they escape? Or will their bodies forever lie at the bottom of the Mephisto Swamp?
Set in 1949, The Mephisto Swamp Mystery by Dorian Rockwood is a captivating post-World War II adventure. The story is very well written with picturesque imagery and a timeline that is perfectly depicted. Filled with action and drama, the storyline and plot far surpass those of the Hardy Boys books that I enjoyed in my youth. This book brought back delightful memories and glimpses into the past, and I especially loved the soda shop scenes. Geared toward teenage boys, this fast-paced and exciting series will enthrall everyone who loves adventure stories with daring and courageous heroes!
