An unscrupulous banker was trying to foreclose on the farm of Virginia Tyler. Her husband had recently passed away. She found the meticulous records he kept. He had recorded each payment, but there were no receipts.

John could not let his mother lose the family farm. Out of desperation, he and two of his friends, Tom and Billy Ray, robbed the bank in a neighboring town. Now they were on the run. They gave his mother enough money to pay off the farm and divided the rest. Texas was their destination. They would hire themselves out for a cattle drive. John had ridden the trail before and shared his knowledge and wisdom along the way.

The three faced adversities on their journey. A tornado,a rattlesnake, a mountain lion, and Indians are part of their adventure. Along the trail, they made friends. At the Mercy Mission, they met a doctor/minister and his daughter. Tom fell in love with the daughter and the two married.

The Missouri Riders is an excellent read. History comes to life on the pages of this western. The plot is interesting and holds the reader’s attention. The characters are well-developed. This is “clean” book. The author’s have not filled it profanity. There are morals worked into the adventures. The Missouri Riders is easy to recommend. Fans of history and westerns will enjoy The Missouri Riders.
