Animal lovers everywhere will have their heartstrings pulled when they read The Most Purrfect Home of All by Susanne Rea. A small one-eyed stray cat has made his home in an old abandoned truck. One day he returns from hunting to find his home towed away. Now that he is homeless, he looks for a new place to live. The cold weather adds some urgency to his search. He tries several places, but nothing feels quite right until he stays in a warm little cottage. He is fearful as someone approaches, but he continues to return as the kind man puts out food for him every day. Will the little cat find a new home? Rea has based this on a real story. She has also included a link to fun 3D characters that kids can print out and make.
The Most Purrfect Home of All will enchant cat lovers old and young. Susanne Rea has done a wonderful job of highlighting the plight of many stray cats around the world and turning it into a touching story. Kids will root for this little one-eyed cat as he tries to find a warm, loving place to call home. Maria Andrieieva's soft pastel illustrations add warmth and depth to the story. My favorite image was the last picture of a happy cat and his human. This is Rea's first picture book, and she has crafted a story filled with emotion and heart. It is the "purrfect" choice to read cuddled up with your furry friends.
