When Amy Musil, beautiful, strong-willed and kind, finds herself in trouble, fearing for her very life, she fights back with an instinct and skill she had no idea she had. Amy discovers that she’s innately endowed with a set of abilities that are highly sought after in a world where those who are weak and strong are no different. All are kept safe and controlled. But those who seek Amy’s skills also want to control her. In The One Who Had To, the debut novel by author Kim Moyer, Amy needs to fight for herself, her parents, her fiancé and all that she holds dear. Amy must utilize all that she holds within herself to regain control of a situation she hardly understands before it’s too late and enter into a future she never expected.

The One Who Had To is a rip-roaring thrill ride of a book. It kept me turning the pages from start to finish. Amy Musil, the lead character, is a complex, interesting and well-drawn character, and the intriguing challenges she faces as she tries to figure out her genetically given abilities will have you rooting for her throughout. This book would appeal to any reader who loves fiction, and especially those who love thrillers or action adventures. This book is a quick read, but be sure you have a free afternoon to finish it once you pick it up, because you won’t want to put it down. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series, and will keep my eye out for the next work by Kim Moyer. I sincerely hope she’s hard at work on the exploits of Amy Musil!
