The Other Inside by J.M. White is a vivid horror story. Billie doesn’t have a family. His mother’s life was ended at the hands of a murderer and his stepfather was put inside for doing it. Billie can’t stay where his mother died and so he must run. Eleven years on and Billie is living in a small town in New Hampshire. But there is something terrible inside him, something hungry and it needs to feed now. Billie has named it 'the Other' and soon the bodies begin to pile up. The town is living on the edge and the police are desperately trying to catch the killer. Billie knows that if he is careful his secret can stay hidden. He didn’t count on meeting his best friend from his childhood. As he draws ever closer to her, his secrets start to unravel. Was his stepfather really guilty of murdering his mother? And if not, who was?
The Other Inside by J.M. White is one of those books that makes you go Wow! It is a relatively quick read but, boy, what a read. This is gripping stuff, part horror, part tense thriller and it is full of suspense and twists, including the big one that you won't see coming. The story grabs you on the first page and holds on tight. You can’t put it down; you have to keep turning the pages to see where it's going. There is a dark side to the story but not so dark that you struggle to read it. The characters are amazing, well-developed and you really do want to root for Billie, no matter what he’s done. Trust me when I say this is one story you will read all the way through. I don’t know if a sequel is planned but, if it is, I look forward to reading it.
