In our daily lives, we are immersed in routines, and we fail to appreciate what is around us because of the stress of responsibilities. To get out of this state, we can write a journal that gives us clarity of thought and allows us to connect better with God. That is why Chris Myers encourages us to write from the heart. In this way, we can remain attentive to God's purposes no matter where we are. In The Power of Journaling, he explains what a journal is and its potential. He teaches us to pay attention to our surroundings and invites us to reflect to overcome difficult situations. He also shares his experiences and encourages us to be honest about our circumstances so that we can get on the right path.

The honesty with which Chris Myers expresses himself is inspiring. In his youth, he went through a difficult experience. Some time later, he began to write a journal. In it, he described his achievements and failures, and this strengthened his bond with God. In this way, he was able to overcome his past and accept the present. His willingness to share this meant a lot to me, as it takes courage to speak so openly. He shows that the effectiveness of journaling relies on our receptiveness to the Holy Spirit. He also reminds us that writing requires courage and discipline. In addition, his stories are entertaining. He speaks with sincerity in a relaxed and natural way. You can sense his desire to help and share everything he has learned. His experiences are encouraging because they are real proof that in times of need, God helps us in unexpected ways. The Power of Journaling shows that a journal is like a constant and private confidante that teaches us to forgive and find hope.

The Power of Journaling by Chris Myers teaches how our journaling is a record of God’s work in our very own ordinary lives, leaning into ongoing conversation with God, and showing our reliance and movement toward surrender. He is detailed in how scripture molds this work, citing Proverbs 25:2 to explain how God brings hidden matters into view through continued writing. Myers uses his own history as an example of how the entries marked hardship and later direction, with prayer and scripture guiding him. He talks about how remembrance harnesses trust, just like earlier evidence of God’s action informs today's choices. He champions journaling as the designated space for inquiry before God, allowing our motives to surface, for guidance to emerge across time, and for keeping faith anchored in God’s purposes.

Readers will find The Power of Journaling by Chris Myers a wonderful and really informative guide, and a fantastic outline of how writing can shape everyday conduct and renew spiritual direction. I admit my journaling habits have gotten rusty, but I can definitely see the power and necessity of a restart. My favorite example comes from Myers's use of Lewis and Clark as a metaphor, framing them as a picture of how observation and inward response can reorient us when we hit unknown territory. The wisdom drawn from Proverbs and the practice of recording what God places in the heart give the book a grounded tone. Perhaps the most powerful element is Myers's own accounts, like how his move from Summer Haven signals how obedience can open the space for renewed purpose. Overall, I have no doubt The Power of Journaling will be a strong motivator for readers. Recommended.

The Power of Journaling: Opening the Door of Your Heart by Chris Myers shows how keeping a journal can become a daily spiritual exercise. It weaves together personal stories, biblical teaching, and practical guidance. Myers’s own journey is traced in the text, beginning during a time of inner turmoil while in Paris, which led to writing some thoughts down in a notebook. That simple act gradually changed into a long-term habit that now includes prayers, memories, and honest reflections. In sections like self-discovery and worship, among others, it also breaks down how jotting down what’s going on in one’s head helps name feelings, recognize patterns, and illustrates how progress happens over time. The ARISE framework is also explained. It’s used for recognizing God’s voice when writing entries. By the end, journaling feels like a quiet space where one can experience a steady, reassuring presence.

The Power of Journaling by Chris Myers is very heartfelt. I liked how Myers didn’t rush past the difficult times in his life, but instead demonstrated how what started as thoughts, doubts, and fears eventually shifted over time. The writing is warm and conversational, with plenty of real-life scenes—from walks around a pond to near-miss car accidents. I found it thought-provoking how journaling was tied directly to prayer. It wasn’t just “self-care,” but a way to talk and listen to God. The ARISE steps and the small, useful suggestions gave me ideas I could actually see myself using, which I found interesting since I’ve never been one to keep a notebook of what I think. Overall, this book left me feeling both encouraged and challenged to begin writing my own thoughts down in a notebook.
