The Quest for the Caringstone is a children's book in The Sunny Day Squad series, written by Michael Panzner and illustrated by Polly Mooney. In Gaggle Grove live four friends known as The Sunny Day Squad. Ollie the Monkey, Poppy the Puppy, Daisy the Rabbit, and Ted the Horse always seek new adventures. Captain Bravebutter and his parrot, Pete, brought a map searching for the Caringstone, which is said to have the power to make even the saddest child smile. He asked Ollie, Poppy, Daisy, and Ted if they could help to find the stone. Off they set, encountering many obstacles, but with the help of local hardworking animals, no challenge is impossible for The Sunny Day Squad. Atop the highest cliff, they find the Caringstone, all because they asked for help when needed, and they never once gave up.
I found The Quest for the Caringstone to be very upbeat, positive, and fun to read. Michael Panzner's wonderful story, accompanied by Polly Mooney's colorful illustrations, will make any child smile. The energetic feel of the four characters of The Sunny Day Squad inspires those around them to do their absolute best with a smile. So many hurdles were encountered in their search for the mighty Caringstone, but a solution was found to overcome each obstacle, enabling them to continue their search. The Sunny Day Squad never gave up once they embarked on their journey, and they were not afraid to ask for help if they needed it. I recommend The Quest for the Caringstone to young audiences aged five and over.
