In The Return of the Mahdi, author Sharon Alice Geyer tells the exciting story of Ari, an Israeli Jew, who was chosen by the Muslims for an unusual purpose. The story begins with a dangerous adventure in which Ari leaves his family behind and steps out into the unknown. He is driven entirely by his desire to find out if he is indeed The Mahdi - the Muslim Messiah. His wife, Lily, and infant daughter quickly follow suit and become involved in a hair-raising and deathly journey. Surrounded by people that can’t be trusted, Ari struggles to find the purpose for his life and to grow spiritually. However, he soon discovers that liars surround him and that there’s no such thing as a coincidence. Lily relies heavily on the revelations she receives from the Archangel in order to know which path to take, and she blossoms into a strong and fearless woman that just won’t be stopped. Never knowing exactly when they are being followed or by whom, running the risk of being killed, and trying to untangle the lies makes the suspense in this story superb.

The language used is simple and easy to understand, turning this novel into a pleasant read for people of all ages. Sharon Geyer draws from the expertise of archaeologists and from her own travels to add integrity to her story.
