Author Biography

After working in administration for many years, I have found myself now to be writing full time. I have definitely learnt a lot about the industry, as this is relatively very new to me. There is still so much to learn, and all part of my new journey. What inspired me to start to write was observing the psychology of people and their relationships of which I find very fascinating. My first book; The Twisted Diary-Infatuation, is the first of a trilogy.
As I have re-edited my books-as you do, even I myself have enjoyed reading to see what happens next as if its the first time I have read it. I hope all my readers enjoy my same experience and look forward to the second book-The Twisted Diary-Obsession.

The Twisted Diary: Infatuation by Anne Roberts is a story about one woman’s strength and search for love in today’s modern world. Kate is a fifty-something recently widowed woman who happens to meet Harrison, a suave, successful man, though just a friend. Harrison is a true man of the world and leads a fast-paced, busy urban life. There is an initial attraction and slowly Kate starts falling for Harrison as he wines and dines her. However, as she gets to know him better, she begins to notice his manipulative and deceitful side as well. Unsure of what to do and of her own feelings, Kate finally takes a long, hard look at reality and does what is in her best interests with the help of her friends.

The Twisted Diary: Infatuation by Anne Roberts is a contemporary women’s fictional novel that I am sure a lot of women will be able to relate to. It deals with men, dating, and relationships in the modern world that each one of us has encountered and dealt with. Kate’s character is very well-drawn and she is someone readers can easily sympathize with and relate to as she deals with love and dating. One almost feels like cheering her on. I also liked the fact that it shows women in a strong light with a sensible head on their shoulders. With its simple, engaging, and realistic plot, this is a great novel to take along on a vacation or to stay in and read on a rainy day.

The Twisted Diary by Anne Roberts is, basically, a diary. Instead of the diary being written a teenager, it belongs to a middle-aged woman. When Kate meets Harrison, she is immediately infatuated with him. Once they begin seeing each other, Kate realizes that Harrison is not as good as he seems.

The Twisted Diary is twisted because of Roberts' Harrison character and the way he treats Kate. To be honest, I hated Harrison from the very beginning, but I really liked Kate’s character. I was not sure what Kate saw in him, especially after he just wanted to be friends with benefits. I kept waiting for her to grow a backbone and tell him off. Kate was constantly dropping everything to go meet Harrison. He would text her whenever he wanted and she would run to him, and then he would end up drinking the night away. I had to keep reminding myself that Kate was a middle-aged woman because she was focused a lot on sex. It seemed like she was letting her schoolgirl crush control her life. I kept rooting for Kate to dump Harrison on every page. This book is very similar to real life and proves the point that love is blind.

Overall, The Twisted Diary is a decent book. I recommend it for anyone who is in the type of relationship similar to Kate’s. I think Harrison annoyed me because he is too like people I know. I hope in Roberts' next book that Kate stays away from Harrison.

The Twisted Diary by Anne Roberts is the tale of Kate, a widow who is trying to move on from her past. Meeting Harrison seems like a dream come true, as he has the high flying, high stakes lifestyle she's always wanted but never thought she could achieve. While Harrison's style and personality compel Kate to learn more, she's confronted by his chilly emotional demeanor and extremely demanding requirements that he places on her in their new relationship. Still, Kate is determined to make things work, but almost loses herself in the process. Soon though, she begins to rely on friends to discover who she is and the realization that she doesn't have to be controlled by anyone but herself.

The Twisted Diary jumps right in without any pretense at setting the tone or giving any kind of back story. It goes right into the deep end, and we meet Harrison within the first two pages. The relationship between Kate and Harrison is rapid and realistic, as I imagine that's how many pseudo-abusive relationships start. Unusually, this book is written in first person, present tense. The standard for most genres is past tense when writing fiction, so the odd tense was strange at first and took some time getting used to. The use of the tense made the story seem vague, and almost intentionally mysterious. It certainly kept me, as the reader, in the exact moment of the action of the story. Anne Roberts has got it right with this compelling, dramatic, and very stark portrayal of a not-so-perfect relationship.
