The Ultimate Self-Esteem Toolkit intends to provide readers with the ability to like, appreciate, and be kind to who you are and who you will become. In doing so, self-perception will markedly improve, and positive behavioral choices will enhance the quality of life. To bring such significant personal growth to fruition, Risa Williams focuses on the steps needed to make seemingly overwhelming changes in five areas that impact selfhood. Every chapter builds on one another, beginning the journey to self-esteem by learning to consistently "self-talk" with encouragement. Ways to build confidence, determine achievable goals, establish emotional balance, and become happier, perhaps the most intimidating tasks, are also targeted objectives. The path to the realization of desired results comes through the application of a methodology based on proven psychological techniques by a seasoned therapist.
Throughout the book, Risa Williams demonstrates a keen awareness that building self-esteem requires meticulous guidance and must also promote self-empowerment. I found that the developmental exercises are engaging challenges rather than intimidating instructions. After completing several of them, a worksheet at the end of each chapter reinforces the insights gained and demonstrates progressive accomplishments. To illustrate, in the promotion of raising confidence, one potential nemesis is an inner "negativity lawyer" who demeans work regardless of the outcome. However, once identified, such unfounded criticism becomes a mere "mini-block." This creative approach to addressing long-standing impediments is very helpful. There are many self-development books, but for me, The Ultimate Self-Esteem Toolkit is exceptionally clear, effectively directive, and authentically supportive. I found this book to be a worthwhile investment for those in need who want to live more fulfilling lives.
