The Uncut Grass by Mark Butler introduces us to Jenny Davis as she finds out that her husband has cheated on her. So she storms out of the house and away from John's life and what she considered comfort. Jenny moves into an apartment in Dallas with her friend Rebekah and starts walking a bit on the wild side. Jenny meets a man named Marco while out in a shady part of town with Rebekah and so begins the slide into a dangerous revelation and love affair.

As a woman who recently found out her husband cheated on her and uprooting my life, I instantly identified with Jenny. While I may not have gone down her road with Marco, I can certainly see why the rebirth and changing of everything you knew is so appealing. Marco is an interesting character; in his own right a criminal, but I would not necessarily call him a bad guy. I like that in this book no one is black and white - everyone is done in shades of gray. Mark Butler has created a compelling story that will drag you in and make you stay with the characters until the final page is read. The story has a good flow to it and makes you feel a gamut of emotions as you work through it. As I read, I wanted to feel an attachment to the story and the characters. I felt at one with Jenny, I wanted to cheer her on as she transformed and remade herself. I may not understand every choice she made, but I can certainly understand why she felt she had to make them. If you want to read a good book that offers insight into revelation, reformation and, of course, love I would highly recommend this read.

The Uncut Grass is a mystery by Mark Butler. Jenny Davis’s stable life changed forever after she caught her husband, John, cheating. She leaves him and stays with her friend, Rebekah. Jenny meets Marco Harrison, a dangerous drug dealer and dates him to even the score with John. But Marco is from a different world than Jenny’s unaccustomed to, and she finds herself doing daring activities with him that she wouldn’t attempt while married. Marco is attracted to Jenny, but does not have serious relationships, and his lifestyle is too risky to include her. His doubts are accurate when a few associates want to control his drug trade, and will not hesitate to kill him, or anyone he’s close to. Jenny sees another side to Marco she fears, especially when their lives are endangered. She has confusing emotions about her relationship with a drug lord and her marriage.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, as proven in The Uncut Grass by Mark Butler. It’s a lovely combination of mystery, suspense and romance. I enjoyed reading this novel, and liked how the author developed this fast paced drama which has some interesting characters. Jenny portrays how some women become vulnerable when relationships don’t work. The drug setting is also great, as Mark Butler writes wonderfully descriptive scenes showing how cutthroat the drug trade can be. His writing isn’t overly explicit in the violence scenes, neither are the sex parts. The impressive ending allows readers to draw their own conclusions as to the characters' future.

The Uncut Grass by Mark Butler is a story of romance, suspense and so much more. Jenny is a substitute schoolteacher who comes home and is upset because her husband hasn’t mowed the lawn. She enters the house to find her husband, John, in bed with another woman. Mild mannered Jenny cannot believe that this is happening and instantly packs her bags and says goodbye to John and her marriage. Jenny goes to live with her friend Rebekah until she can figure out where to go and what to do next. Jenny is angry, hurt, bewildered and confused as to how John could have done this awful thing to her and ruined what she thought was their happy marriage. The new Jenny joins the singles scene and looks for sex in all the wrong places. When she meets Marco, the drug dealer, 'killer when necessary' and tough guy, she is instantly drawn to him and discovers a side of herself that she never knew existed. Marco believes Jenny is the woman he has been waiting for all his life. Jenny quickly and comfortably becomes a part of Marco’s underworld.

The Uncut Grass is a story of life changes. Mark Butler has drawn a picture taking us inside the mind of Jenny, John and Marco, and he pulled me right into the story and took me along on the journey. I felt the joy, the pain, the love and the hate in each page of The Uncut Grass. I would like nothing better than to find out what their futures hold. It would make a fantastic weekly TV show that would quickly become a crowd favorite. I recommend this book to women of all ages.

After finding her husband of four years in bed with another woman, 29-year-old Jenny Davis, acting on autopilot, fled her marital home, leaving that part of her life behind her. Jenny found temporary accommodation with a friend, to give her time to figure out what to do next. When the friend insisted they go out, the last thing Jenny expected was to have any kind of attraction to any man this soon but when she met Marco that night, she knew there was something special there. Even better, Marco was willing to be just a friend for the time being and give her time to sort out her marital issues. In Marco's arms, Jenny is introduced to a new life she never imagined before, a dark and dirty life of survival of the sneakiest in the underworld of drugs and all the trouble that comes with that world.

The Uncut Grass by Mark Butler is a story about a woman's struggle to find her new place in life after her husband's infidelity ended her previous life. Mark Butler's book tells a tale of self realization, self rediscovery, adapting to new ways of life. There's also a bit of self destruction as Jenny goes from being a woman who derived pleasure from simple things like watching happy kids pass by her home on their way to and from school to becoming the partner in crime of a big time drug lord. It was intriguing to watch Jenny go through these rapid changes as she reflected on her old life, her new dilemma and the possible future that her new life choices held.

The Uncut Grass by Mark Butler is a romantic novel that deals with the dark side of love. Jenny walks out of John's life when she discovers that he is having an affair with Leslie, who lives in their neighborhood. She moves in with her close friend, Rebekah, and starts living like a single woman. It is then she meets Marco, the drug dealer. Jenny Davis never realizes she is with a dangerous man who is not only a drug dealer, but also a killer. Slowly she is pulled into his dark world and undergoes a great transformation which even her husband won't be able to recognize. The story then steers to a different phase when Jenny is kidnapped, which leads to Marco seeking her husband's help. It is a story of romance, betrayal and treachery.

I found the book gripping and compelling. All the characters are well portrayed with strong individual traits and readers will find each one of them dominating the story in their own way. The open ending hints at another story with the same characters or a second volume. Along with the passion and romance of Marco and Jenny, the book has killing, betrayal and treachery that make it dangerous and brutal. The softness in the story is provided by the romantic angle of Marco and Jenny. There is a lot of depth in the love and passion between Marco and Jenny and it is very obvious throughout the plot, despite the dark angle.
