After a failed attempt at capturing Hitler in Paraguay, independent vigilante Nazi hunters Felipe and his wife Giselle relocate to Buenos Aires, where Felipe is still occupied with the relentless pursuit. However, the frustration of his lack of progress is taking a toll on their marriage. Giselle, keen on rekindling the spark in their relationship, unwittingly brings the couple back on track in the investigation. She befriends Karen, a babysitter, whom they soon learn could be a direct relative of Eva Braun, Hitler’s wife. As Giselle gets closer to Karen’s family, she is about to uncover dangerous secrets, a plot to revive the Nazi spirit and ideologies in Buenos Aires, and carefully covered tracks that lead back to Hitler. Joined by Giselle’s uncle Daniel, a disgraced ex-Mossad operative, will Hitler slip through the couple’s grasp this time around? Will the trio survive the danger that awaits them? Find out in The Unlikely Huntress by Stephen Maitland-Lewis.
If you are looking for a historical espionage thriller flavored with suspense, plot twists, a splash of drama, and action, The Unlikely Huntress by Stephen Maitland-Lewis is a great pick. With deliberate prose and vivid depictions, the author transports readers back to 1960s Buenos Aires, Geneva, and Tel Aviv. I gained a clear understanding of the sociopolitical mood and environment during that era. The story unfolds in a way that captures both the characters’ day-to-day activities and moments of tension and action, from family moments and events to dangerous outdoor confrontations. The author shows the dangers and high stakes involved in covert operations. I also got insight into the rise of the Nazi movement and the organization of disastrous historical events like the Holocaust, and the impact it had on the world. It is interesting how cleverly Hitler climbed to power.
