The Winter Purge is a dystopian sci-fi thriller by M.L. Lloyd. It's the 28th century, and humanity has achieved immortality by transcending their biological forms and gaining the ability to transfer their souls through multiple lives. However, a devastating accident fifty-six years ago caused the fiery deaths of seven million LaPortans, the sole survivor being Lena Sage. Lena becomes the Brand Ambassador for Laporte Industries with enhanced capabilities that make her the perfect sales specimen. However, she feels persecuted by the very company she has worked for well over 700 years. With rising public discontent due to the Expiration Fever plaguing the immortals and the SDS system being the only cure, which continues to remain offline, Lena is determined to bring the company back to its former glory alongside the tenacious reporter, Emily Stellar.
A fast-paced, action-packed thriller that hooks you in from the first page and refuses to let go until the end, The Winter Purge is a blockbuster of a novel. Set in a futuristic dystopia, where a monolithic conglomerate governs people's souls in their afterlife, author M.L. Lloyd's intricately crafted tale is filled with suspense, action, romance, and plenty of thrills. The characters are vibrant and full of life. Their distinct quirks make them pop out of the pages and they are utterly entertaining to read. Lena is the main protagonist who wears her heart on the sleeve. She is foul-mouthed, edgy, and someone you wouldn't want to mess around with, but somehow, you still end up rooting for her. I had a blast reading The Winter Purge. Recommended to fans of sci-fi thrillers.
