In The Worried Little Goat by Healey E. Ikerd, Asher is a newborn goat, cute and cuddly as you would expect. But he's scared and worried. He doesn't know anything. How will he feed? Drink water? What does he eat? Who is that strange man? Maaa answers all his questions and more, gently teaching him about life on the farm. Readers will learn much about goats and how to care for them. This book will also teach kids that it's okay to ask questions; after all, if we don't, we can't possibly learn anything. It will also teach them that it's okay to be worried when faced with a new situation and that a certain amount of fear is healthy – it can keep you safe.
The Worried Little Goat by Ealey E. Ikerd is a wonderful story with amazing illustrations by Tanya Matiikiv. While this is a cute story about a baby goat and his mom, it's also educational. Young readers will learn a great deal about goats and their needs, what they need to eat to survive, how to care for them, and how they play. They'll learn about the role of a goatherder on the farm and the care he gives the goats to make sure they are happy and healthy. Kids will enjoy this story, not just for what they can learn from it but for what it is – a lovely animal story. There should be more books like this to help kids learn how to care for animals and teach them that all life is precious and that it's down to us (kids are our future) to help protect the natural world. Highly enjoyable story, recommended for all kids.
