The Zeta Grey War: The Event is an all-out, all-alien science fiction adventure by DF Capps. As the second book in The Zeta Grey War series, the story continues with top rated combat pilot Diane Zadanski, who found herself embroiled in the world of secret space espionage and hush-hush technology after her desperate search for her missing brother, presumed abducted. Diane joins a whole host of other characters, new and old, for this second instalment, where we discover that humanity has its own specialized weapons – and allies – against the assimilative prowess of the Zeta Greys. Genres blend in a world of paranormal powers, like mind control, and super-hi-tech, like anti-gravity craft. In a comparatively short sci-fi novel, a great deal can happen!

DF Capps has crafted a highly plot-driven novel which doesn’t skimp on concept, technology or details. I’m usually more of a character-driven reader, but I found myself so intrigued by the edge-of-your-seat action and interdepartmental secrets of the novel that I didn’t mind switching to different rooms of people with every chapter just to learn more. The Zeta Grey War: The Event unveils plenty more about the Zeta Greys and their plans for total control, and I didn’t find it difficult to pick up the tale, despite not having read book one. Capps writes with precision, giving subtle clues to characters' intentions, but focusing specifically on dialogue and details. Fans of John LeCarre are sure to love the mix of science fiction and espionage, which blends very believably with paranormal powers that are truly out of this world.
