Before she turns thirteen, Fiona Sprechelbach goes through so much. The story takes readers through her harrowing experiences — the tear gas at a Vietnam War rally, the trying events in India, the challenges of living in a rural commune in Pennsylvania, and a near-death experience in a car with her mom are just a few of them. But what has kept her alive, kept her going, and given her faith in life and humanity? The answer to this question will surprise readers.
