Timeless: Can a Love be Everlasting by Wynne Stevens is written in a gorgeous lyrical style, packed with beautiful imagery and prose. Jason Kane has a horrible motorcycle accident on his way home to meet the love of his life. He finds himself in a hospital, his brain damaged, his memory gone. Now he lives in a home for the mentally challenged with no memories of his life before the accident. But he possesses one thing that he has never parted with — a ring. It has been almost five decades, and then after taking an experimental drug, his memory returns. There is nothing that can help him reconnect with his life before the accident. But there is a nurse who might be of help. Listening to his story, she might find clues that could link to the love of his life.
This is an extraordinary tale of love, a story that explores the pure soul of a man in love. One finds a lot of pathos in the narrative and one hopes for the best for Jason, wanting to know what happens to him in the end. The prose is wonderful and I enjoyed the powerful, vivid descriptions and the dialogues that brilliantly support the plot points. The story starts with incredible action, with the protagonist racing on his bike and then the unfortunate accident that changes everything: “Jason swept around another rocky bluff and straightened momentarily before leaning in the opposite direction. Riding is to experience the sensation of floating in that sweet spot between gravity and centrifugal force.” Wynne Stevens is a great storyteller and has the gift of sustaining the reader’s attention from page to page. Timeless: Can a Love be Everlasting is both inspiring and entertaining.
