Can a truly good person commit an act of unforgivable evil? Do humans always use their best reasoning skills? Do people always do things that are in their best interest? Bahr Burr considers these questions in Tranquility Bight. Tranquility Bight is one of the many communities created in this world. It has models of upstanding citizens trying to maintain their ideal of the American dream of working hard to achieve a good home, a good family, and great friends. A series of unfortunate events occur in the community. The plot focuses on one community member's experience as they navigate peer pressure, fear, and wanting to control their own life. What decision would you make? Would the mob mentality rule, or would morals win?

Bahr Burr has written a book that shocked and jarred my senses concerning what makes a person good in Tranquility Bight. This story made me think about how emotions like embarrassment, fear, betrayal, anger, and the fight or flight response can affect your choices in different situations. The pace has a medium flow that builds to a climactic ending. The author also highlights the danger of the mob mentality. If you do something different, even if it's what's best for you and those around you, you might be labeled an outcast. As I read, my anxiety and stress levels were high from worrying about what would happen next due to the growing mass hysteria. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy good psychological thrillers, suspense, and realistic fiction.
