Trump, European Security and Turkey is a concise and interesting work of non-fiction on political and international topics penned by author Iveta Cherneva. As the title suggests, the work focuses on the country of Turkey and the involvement of prominent players in world politics such as Trump and Macron in Turkey’s security, military, and NATO involvement. What results is a full and detailed summary of the events that have led to Turkey’s current position as we look ahead into 2020, at which point the author is able to express the most pertinent concerns that are sure to arise when moving forward.
For someone who knows little of global politics and even less of the military and security concerns of other nations, I found this book extremely accessible and able to give a total layman a full grounding in the concerns that face Turkey in 2020 and beyond. Author Iveta Cherneva expresses both a powerful passion for the topic on which she speaks and a controlled professionalism which keeps the work balanced and well delivered at all times. The editing and organization of the work is superb, delivering important grounding information before building to wider world topics and more complex ideas, which really aids clarity as the different countries and policies involved grow in number and complexity. Overall, anyone seeking a fully informative overview of the last year of politics concerning NATO and European Security need look no further than the well written and accomplished Trump, European Security and Turkey.
