Two Lefts Don't Make a Right by Dan Romanello is a sharp, entertaining thriller that drops readers right into the world of Dylan Tomassi, a self-made Florida investor with a generous heart and an uncanny ability to attract trouble. When Dylan travels to Connecticut to celebrate the grand opening of a school field house he funded in honor of his mother, what should be a joyful gathering of family and old friends gradually takes a darker turn. Meanwhile, a slick and morally bankrupt climate activist named Barry Filmore is running an elaborate con on corporations and government contacts alike, and his schemes begin to move uncomfortably close to Dylan's world. Throw in a young intern caught in a web of manipulation far beyond her internship duties, and the story builds into layered, slow-burning suspense that keeps the pages turning long after the reunion warmth fades.

Dan Romanello writes with the ease and confidence of a storyteller who knows his characters well. Dylan is a genuinely likable protagonist: principled without being preachy, sharp without being cold, and surrounded by a supporting cast that feels real, especially the reliably entertaining Alex Malloy, whose comic timing gives the novel a welcome lightness. The villain is drawn with particular skill; Filmore is the kind of morally hollow, self-serving opportunist ripped from today's headlines, which gives the story a grounded, relevant edge. The parallel storyline following Fanci Nagle adds a compelling dimension and quietly steals several scenes. Some readers who jump in without reading the earlier books may need a moment to find their footing with the full cast. But for fans of intelligent thrillers with a strong sense of place—sun-drenched Florida, wintry Connecticut, and everything in between—Two Lefts Don't Make a Right is a satisfying, well-crafted ride.
