Author Biography

Philip C. Elrod was raised in Crossville, a small town on top of Sand Mountain in Northeast Alabama. He served two years in the US Army, stationed in Germany and returned to attend college at the University of Florida and Florida Southern College Majoring in Industrial Engineering and Economics.

Over the years of his professional career he has written many articles and manuals on data collection, computer technology and technical trading of securities. His most recent articles have been published by FXTraderMagazine.com and other international magazines. His first novel, Mylea, was the first in another series called the Mylean Universe Chronicles.

Mr. Elrod resides, along with his wife of many years, Linda, in Richardson, Texas. His interests include astronomy, photography, outdoor cooking and travel, especially RV travel with his wife and pets.

How does a small town young man turn into an international arms smuggler? He simply gets involved with his eccentric Uncle Herbert! Uncle Herbert: Time is Running Out is book two of the Sand Mountain Tales by Philip C. Elrod and details the steps Herbert Campbell takes to manipulate his young nephew into carrying out a dangerous secret plan. Thought to be crazy by everyone in town, including the rest of the Campbell family, Herbert has managed to amass a fortune and pays for Andrew to go to college and graduate school. Herbert then makes Andrew his sole heir and gives him his Power of Attorney, but there is just one provision; Andrew has to find a nuclear device to blow up and destroy Herbert’s laboratory.

With the help of Herbert’s longtime attorney, Cosmo Underwood, Andrew and a whole cast of interesting characters do what it takes to secure such a device and save the world from what they believe will be total destruction. From wheeling and dealing in Washington DC to making connections with arms brokers and psychotic weapons dealers around the world, Andrew, Cosmo and their assorted associates race against time, hiding from the government and vengeful bad guys, to bring home a deadly weapon.

For intrigue, excitement, a bit of science fiction and a totally engaging reading experience, Uncle Herbert: Time is Running Out can’t be beat! Philip C Elrod has created a story that is fast paced and well written with a unique group of diverse characters who engage in a pleasant balance of drama, humor, intrigue, romance and adventure.
