Beware The Demons is the second entry in the Unknown Earth series by Frank Wallace, a dystopian story with strong characters, a well-developed conflict and a setting that will grab the attention of fans of science fiction and fast-paced thrillers. Nemmy has been at the ISF Boomslang command for just six months and it has been the most trying period of her life, but has that time prepared her for what lies ahead? Assassinations are common, things aren’t easy with her crew, and while the Summit between the Confederation President and His Most Glorious Majesty, the Emperor, looms ahead, Nemmy is unsure of what secret plans her mom is holding up her sleeve. A powerful threat looms ahead as the Swinefleet of Andres Orion grows in power. Can Emmy get the resources she needs to stop the impending threat?
A tale filled with twists and surprises, political machinations and sophisticated characters, Beware The Demons is an exciting read. Written in beautiful prose, it features powerful and vivid descriptions and dialogues that enrich the plot and deepen aspects of the conflict. The narrative starts with a crisis point: Emmy has just escaped a damning fate and some of her crew are in a dire situation, needing emergency help. The reader is intrigued and wants to know what happened and what will become of the critically affected characters. The pace moves fast and the measured chapters with timely and calculated paragraph breaks make the story even more delightful to read. Frank Wallace is a great storyteller who knows how to grab the reader’s attention and keep it till his tale is done.
